My third time seeing this and it felt like something unlocked for me. I felt compelled to write an incredibly long entry in my journal about how the film reflects the type of subjectivities produced under the pressures of market consolidation and concentrated power (that I will also not spill out here, but it exists). Perhaps, monopolization has an intimate, proximate impact on human life that is invisible, dull, routine, and obvious— that it can speak the language of a metal spear from an oil rig impaling a worker or the language of being unable to bear the weight of the castrated self.
Feels like I got my brain hotwired in exchange for 2 hours of my time, which is a textbook 5/5 for me
